Turn The Page

Tomorrow we hit the month of March so I get to turn the page on my excellent calender. Today I did some miles on the bike it was refreshing to cycle at 5pm and it was still light and really see the faces of drivers frowning as they overtake you. The bike lights remained off. Reet its brew time.

House

Well I've been grafting on some artwork this morning listening to the radio amazingly I've only had two cups of tea at the time of writing at 13.25pm someone take me to a hospital. Scanning through a weekend magazine I've realized with the stubble, the oxford blue shirt, levi jeans and New balance trainers I'm looking like Hugh Laurie in House. I just need a grey suit jacket to complete the look oh and stick.

Thats all I ask from you as the creators of Eastenders.

Card

Today whilst sat on the train heading towards Manchester on the first leg of my journey towards Preston to visit the great people of Wash Design; while reading my book by Stuart Maconie my peace was disturbed by a young man, his young sister and his mum who got on at Sheffield as I remember. They sat opposite me drawing and giggling making a general noise; I gave up on my book. I gave the young man one of my postcards. In return he made me a card see the above; he had drawn this great mobile telefunken with great button detail. One day this lad could be a budding artist.

Sr Nutkins

I've completed this dude I drew him up a week or two ago. I forgot to mention earlier another rat jumped out at me while I was out cycling early morning. I just hope he was warmer than I was did I mention it was freezing cold.

How Freezing

Now I've mentioned on here about cycling in cold weather, but this morning I'd cycled a number of miles so was exuding body heat but the drops of water on my jacket were turning to ice it was that cold. Maybe my leg muscles will ache later on after that extreme weather bike ride.

Dick Francis

The other day learning about Dick Francis who sadly died a few days ago. I was remembering fun days in my old village library which was at one time a glorified cabin. Only when I was about twelve up to about fifteen; I paused on reading Tintin and the Asterix books, which I admit did me some good. I leant on reading thrillers set around the race horsing community. Not sure why perhaps, I was at an age where I liked women in those tight riding trousers and hunter wellies or maybe thats just right now and still current. But the characters Dick Francis created certainly for a while entertained this chap. What I like about this author a lot of the critics thought his wife was the complete brains behind the novels. After his wife passed on Dick didn't write for six years, but then returned to form and proved the critics wrong. Dick Francis thankyou.

Read more about the artists involved at Newby Hall; visit  the shop @ Newby Hall blog in my mates section on the right. Newby Hall is a beautiful place to discover through the months of April to September and the gardens are stunning. Alan Titchmarsh is a big fan of the gardens at Newby Hall and that man knows his gardens.

Resolved

Well I've been having a morning resolving an image. I've only briefly left the house and its cold once again outside. Really freezing cold.  For what reason I've mostly sat in silence with no background music on.

Yikes

I read earlier briefly that the BBC chief spent £639 on a taxi?. Any way I've been drawing bits and bobs trying to resolve an image I'm happy with. The weather is awful outdoors I know I rode 14 miles in freezing temps. Part of that journey it tried to snow, the hot drink was much needed by the end of it I'll tell you for nowt.

The Garden

Earlier I had a walk round the grounds and gardens of Newby Hall minus my hunter wellies and barbour jacket en route I saw a photo of a sculpture. Which inspired me to draw this above. I didn't manage to see an equivalent of lady Jane Felsham on this trip out. But there's always next time. Click on the image above to enlarge.

A Tractor

Today I've braved the cold, snow was on the ground when I left the house. I've been to North Yorkshire and there was indeed snow kicking about there aswell. On returning from Ripon I had time to kill at York train station I left the paper shop with a new sketchbook and a lego tractor to construct.
