Brokeback

Yesterday evening, my neighbour was discussing downloading issues with his mp3 player. Apparently he downloaded the Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow duet twice before he could get it for a family member.Ok we believe you sir. My neighbour also discussed how the man over the road has quickly moved in a romanian lady and hasn't been seen since. We both concluded he will surface when he's needing some iron tablets.

Aspire for Bolton College

Well here are some photos of Aspire the college guide / prospectus for the new build 90 million pound Bolton College. I worked with the nice folk at Wash Design it's been on the cards for a while. Andy Walmsley Creative Director had me onboard this year and it's been great to integrate my illustrations / visual language into this new look college guide breaking away from the standard photos of college students. Many thanks to Emma Smart at Wash for working patiently with me.

Travel Diaries

On my travels yesterday I picked this book up illustrated by my mate Dominic Trevett; Now I must get him at some stage to sign my copy. I shall enjoy reading this book. The illustrations look rather good too. This morning it was very cold; so cold I'm putting it down as the reason why the bolt sheared on my seat post and the seat came off and I nearly did too. Or at the very least nearly hurt my willy! "We Continue".

Scoph

Well readers I spotted this earlier on facebook my old mate Scoph. He's a bit good on a snowboard and he's part of a band oh and he paints and draws stuff. Now and again I'll bump into him when he's home and we talk about getting older, knee problems, Art and generally not settling down. Well he met one of the Lego designers they talked and joked then this happened above. How cool is this? I know I'm jealous. Scoph is the lego dude on the left.

Here You Have
Yesterday
Yesterday I went down London all wrapped up with scarf and flat cap; cos it was freezing or was that just me. But judging by the photos yesterday evening in the Evening Standard captured in Hyde Park that morning it was cold with the frost pictured. I visited the Tate to see this years Turner prize entries. En route I picked up a bargain Lego kit to build because I'm daft and thats as far as my building skills go!!; The Lego I'll have to photograph for the blog. But it will have a place in my creative space.

Just My Type

Well en route today I've got me a copy of "Just My Type" by Simon Garfield which is a must read for any graphic designer or serious graphic design student I'm sure. I've just read a few pages and its good stuff all about fonts and there backgrounds and use. Now I sat on the fence studying Graphic Design but I needed to learn typography before gravitating to illustration but my interest remains in font design. Maybe 8 years or so ago I read Simon's book on "Mauve" after being fascinated by this colour for years and his book on the subject matter is great reading. I seem to recollect seeing a lass in a mauve blouse and being hooked on this colour true story I'm afraid. Mauve is fabulously sexy.

Proper Mint!
Today I did some miles on my bike, I've watched Cemetery Junction on dvd great british movie. I've read the papers. I've admired a couple of images. I was told earlier a great true story about Paul Daniels the magician about when he was on the club circuit in the early 70s in the working men clubs in Donny. My mate was telling me about a trick he did with a pack of polo mints and making a fiver appear. Well the lads being lads in Donny swapped his pack of polo's for this trick and mucked up Paul's trick. Apparently he proper lost his cool!! true story readers.

Testicles
Well readers just got in after being out and about. I've just about stopped chuckling to myself after spotting a pimped up Hummer. Yes I've seen a few Hummer's before but this one was in monster truck mode with huge tyre's. When it passed I was admiring the spare tyre on the back which had a red light in the middle of it nice touch I thought. But as we got closer to the vehicle below the spare tyre was a huge pair of perfectly sculpted silver bollocks swinging about. There was even one of the testicles sculpted to hang lower than the other. I cannot tell you how much I laughed about this one. I was even sat laughing on my own on the train; we continue.

Schmoozers

Well Alan Sugar returns on the telly tonight with "The Apprentice", I'm looking forward to watching this new series and digesting his dialogue. I may at some stage read that mans biography or forfeit it for that new Harry Hill book which I caught a picture of David Shrigley reading on twitter the other day. Any how must go and boil the kettle.
