This evening I've been looking at books I would like to read. I've even been looking at some clothes. There's a jacket out there I would like for the cold snap. Its just a matter of weeks until September and the dark nights. But before all that I need a brew.

Magnus
I was quite intrigued to read that novelist Magnus Mills 55 from London whose books I've enjoyed is still working shifts as a bus driver. When his book The Restraint of Beasts got shortlisted for the booker prize in 1998 he quit driving buses. But he likes having a day job and can only write it turns out when he as no apparent spare time.
Holmes
Just watched the trailer for the new Sherlock Holmes movie out later this year directed By Guy Ritchie looks interesting. I will check that one out but you cannot beat Basil Rathbone as Holmes, reet kettle on.

Essays In Love
Well readers, I have a collection of books I'm trying to read but I bought a copy of Alain de Botton's Essays In love on thursday, which I've been engrossed with. The man cannot write a bad sentence. I believe every person in a relationship or confused by the topic of love should read this book as it says on the reverse of the book. I've not been gripped by a book in ages, Its a great read.

Danny Champion Of The World
The Roald Dahl book I love the most is Danny the Champion of the world, without a doubt. The genius of getting them pheasants. I re-read that book maybe 12 months ago. love it. Whats your fave Roald Dahl book.
Chuckle
Well readers on a personal level my legs ache from cycling. Heavens know how them lads feel in le tour. It will be interesting to see if Lance Armstrong or Alberto makes a move in the next two days. This morning I have to admit Tom Gauld's illustration in todays Guardian Review section made me chuckle, I love that one sir. I also learn they have made my second fave Roald Dahl book into an animation. I look forward to seeing "Fantastic Mr Fox" on the big screen.

today I spotted a hare this morning on the bike; it had huge ears and legs, plus spotted a divvy driving using a mobile phone not a good combo. Last night watched Marley and Me on dvd and yes by the end of the movie I had a lump in my throat. I'll tell you that in the tree of trust.

Pop & Gum

Earlier on a walk to the post office I was taken with some bubblegum the shape of it smeared on a baking hot pavement. Just thought I'd share that with you. I'm on the cold pop trail big time at my end. A quick look at the papers I see the masses are hitting Brighton beach and other coastal destinations in the Uk.
Shine
I've just done some miles on the bike this morning before it gets stupidly hot again. Lots to do, keep calm, wear sunblock, carry on.
